Location: South East - Field-based with regular travel to education sites
I am working withan established FM and Projects consultancy to find them an experience Building Surveying. The group have a host of public sector clients, and this role will work specifically with clients in the field of Education. The group provide services across schools, academies and colleges and the role of Building Surveyor will align with Department of Education to produce conditions surveys and turn findings in actionable and practical maintenance and capital plans.
Key responsibilities
Plan and deliver comprehensive building condition surveys across education estates in line with DfE/CDC requirements.
Assess fabric, structure, roofs, windows, finishes and external areas; record condition ratings, defects, photos, quantities, costs and priorities.
Identify urgent H&S, safeguarding, statutory and business-continuity risks and escalate promptly.
Produce clear reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders and upload data to DfE, client or CAFM systems.
Support CIF and other capital-funding applications with technical evidence.
Convert survey findings into scopes, specifications, schedules of work and project briefs; support procurement, delivery and defects management.
Advise FM teams on lifecycle planning, recurring defects and planned maintenance priorities.
Help develop a commercial Building Surveying offer, including templates, quality procedures and client-facing proposals.
Essential experience
Degree or recognised qualification in Building Surveying.
Proven education-sector experience (schools, academies, MATs) and strong knowledge of DfE estate guidance and condition-survey methodologies.
Experience producing condition reports, specifications, estimates and tender documentation.
Solid grasp of construction, defects, maintenance, lifecycle planning, accessibility, asbestos, fire safety and CDM.
Excellent communication skills with school leaders, estates teams, consultants and contractors.
Full UK driving license, willingness to travel and ability to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
Desirable
MRICS (or working towards).
Direct experience of DfE Condition Data Collection or similar education-estate surveys.
CIF/capital-funding support, contract administration and public-sector procurement experience. xwzovoh
