We are working with a leading global legal practice to hire a Head of Financial Crime for their London office. In this role you will take complete accountability for the department, overseeing strategic compliance frameworks and mitigating regulatory risk across the UK, US, and EMEA regions.

The firm is looking for a senior leader with a minimum of 10 years of experience in financial crime compliance or risk management, alongside at least 10 years of leadership experience, preferably within a law firm environment or a global setting. The ideal candidate will combine deep industry knowledge with strong commercial acumen, demonstrating exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to influence senior partners and legal professionals at all levels. Candidates should possess a collaborative, proactive mindset, a degree in a relevant discipline such as law or finance, and the ability to thrive and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.


The responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, operationalising, and maintaining robust financial crime and compliance strategies across the UK, US, and EMEA regions.
  • Managing and developing a high-performing, diverse regional team while promoting a supportive, safe, and accountable workplace culture.
  • Serving as the principal point of contact and liaison for regulatory bodies, internal partners, and industry experts.
  • Overseeing client onboarding due diligence and partnering with internal teams to evaluate complex reputational risk matters.
  • Steering the creation and implementation of tailored risk management training programs for personnel at all levels of the business.
  • Monitoring control environments, evaluating compliance gaps, and delivering clear reporting to senior management regarding emerging risks.
  • Directing comprehensive risk assessments to proactively discover and mitigate laundering threats across the business footprint.
  • Implementing and updating internal policies regularly to ensure ongoing alignment with evolving international legislation and best practices.
  • Arranging external inspections and audits, evaluating operational inefficiencies, and introducing practical, innovative solutions to maintain a competitive advantage. xwzovoh
