The successful candidate will contribute to across both international politics and comparative politics, while expanding the geographical range of the Department’s expertise in international and comparative politics. Founded in 2010, the department is the only dedicated Department of Political Economy in the United Kingdom. The teaching and research recognises that the disciplines of Politics and Economics are inextricably linked; it is not possible to properly understand political processes without exploring the economic context in which politics operates. Similarly, sound economic analysis requires an awareness of how resource allocation is conditioned by political institutions, historical context and ethical values, and the way these have been understood by different traditions in social thought. In a world characterised by financial uncertainty, ecological insecurity and value conflict, the links between political and economic processes are ever more apparent and the need for a multifaceted appreciation of how they operate, has never been greater.You will be responsible to the Head of Department. More information about the Department, School and Faculty can be found on the King’s website.Department of Political Economy:School of Politics and Economics:Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy:About the roleThe postholder will contribute to the planning, organisation and delivery of teaching activities within the department in accordance with established departmental practice, and to ongoing curriculum development. They will take module tutor responsibility, supervise dissertations, and participate fully in assessment and examination process using a variety of methods and techniques, providing effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their leaning. They will identify where modules need to be developed and make proposals for this, and advise on and assist with student recruitment and marketing issues.They will act as personal tutor to students and be responsible for the pastoral care of students within a specified area.
