Principal / Head of Substation Electrical Design Excellent six figure package , Car, Pension, Healthcare The Substation Principal Engineer is a senior member of the Electrical Design team, working with the SMT responsible for leading the plant design team. Also work winning and delivery of Substations design projects. This is a group wide position, assisting in design co-ordination of infrastructure build projects across the UK. We require someone in the UK with suitable senior electrical design experience either in energy or T&D infrastructure. Holding a driving licence and able to attend sites when required. The role can be home or office based. Responsibilities; • Act as the technical authority and mentor and coach junior and senior design reports. • Deliver Transmission and Distribution level substation design projects to quality, timeliness and profitability • Deliver detailed Substation plant design, layouts, plant specifications, short-circuit calculations, cable system design calculations. • Undertake site survey works and guide the team around constructability issues. • Be responsible for the design liability and risks associated with the correct primary design in relation to design change, compensation events, safe operability and adherence to industry standards and requirements. • Seek out innovative solutions to technical problems • Lead the team on all primary plant design including transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear, Busbar and GIB, GIS cable termination through to MV AIS terminations, and other substation ancillary equipment at all system voltages up to 400kV • Have sound analytical and numeracy skills to reliably undertake primary design calculations • Have a solid understanding of the interface requirements of the civil/ structural aspects of HV substations • Lead design reviews to ensure that design quality, discipline and excellence is maintained • Identify any additional business development opportunities which may arise during project delivery Salary Six Figures plus benefits package If you feel you have the appropriate level of experience please apply with CV in confidence and we will arrange a discussion
