LM Talent Solutions, Specialists in Permanent Recruitment for Manufacturing, Logistics and Supply Chain are recruiting a an electrically biased engineer with multi-skilled capabilities and experience working with PLCs and automated systems on behalf of our established yet progressive Manufacturing client based in Leeds. Working 3 rotating shifts Mon-Friday you will be part of a friendly and experienced team of 5 engineers and report directly into the Engineering and Facilities Manager. As part of this team you will act as a key technical contact during shift, supporting production operations and driving improvements in equipment performance and reliability.
You will work closely with both engineering and production teams, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and enhancing technical capability across the workforce. The position requires a proactive, self-motivated individual who can work independently within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide reactive maintenance support to production operations to minimise downtime.
Perform fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Carry out planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance activities.
Support production teams in maintaining product safety and compliance with quality standards.
Identify and implement improvements to reduce waste, inefficiencies, and operational costs.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, and performance.
Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly and effectively.
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Analyse equipment performance and report on maintenance issues and trends.
Work with PLC systems for fault diagnosis and repair.
Conduct routine inspections and ensure optimal machine performance.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support operational objectives.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of site processes, equipment, and systems.
Support delivery of the site maintenance strategy to reduce unplanned downtime and optimise costs.
Health & Safety and other Responsibilities
Adhere to and promote all workplace health and safety procedures.
Identify and report hazards to prevent incidents.
Accurately report and document accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment.
Participate in ongoing technical and professional development.
Enhance communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Support and contribute to a positive, inclusive working environment.
Skills & Experience
You will possess previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment. An excellent team player you will work within a team of 5 engineers and report to the Engineering and facilities Manager. You will possess the below skills and experience
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a completed apprenticeship.
Knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing setting.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of PLC systems (fault finding essential; programming desirable).
Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, TPM, 5S).
Good understanding of preventative maintenance systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Well-organised with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Proactive and self-motivated approach.
Awareness of relevant health and safety legislation. xwzovoh
Full driving licence and access to transport
Hours of work are weekly rotating Monday to Friday (No weekends required) (Apply online only), (Apply online only) and (Apply online only)
