2 x C#/.NET Desktop Software Engineer - Aberdeen – Permanent Hybrid 3 days on site, 2 days remoteNo sponsorship available Key ResponsibilitiesMust HaveDesign, develop, and maintain complex desktop and cloud applications using modern software engineering practices, including design patterns, SOLID principles, automated testing, and CI/CD.Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, code-generation tools, and automated testing assistants to improve productivity and code quality.Collaborate closely with the Team Lead and Product Owner to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.Communicate risks, trade-offs, progress, and technical challenges effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Continuously evaluate and adopt relevant technologies, frameworks, cloud services, and AI-assisted development tools.Required Experience & QualificationsSoftware Engineer: 3 to 10 years of professional software engineering experience.Senior Software Engineer: 5 to 15 years of professional software engineering experience.Experience building and delivering complex, production-grade software applications.Strong proficiency in C#/.NET.Experience developing desktop applications and/or cloud-based software solutions.Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, testing methodologies, version control, and code review practices.Experience working within Agile software development environments.Nice to HaveExperience modernizing legacy software and migrating mature C/C++ codebases to modern technologies while maintaining performance and accuracy.Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Hands-on experience building, configuring, or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools.Experience modernizing desktop applications, including UI/UX improvements.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to take initiative within a team environment.With over 90 years' combined experience, NES Fircroft (NES) is proud to be the world's leading engineering staffing provider spanning the Oil & Gas, Power & Renewables, Chemicals, Construction & Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Mining and Manufacturing sectors worldwide.
