Employment and Education Lawyer

Key Purpose of Job: To support the Senior and Principal Lawyers in ensuring that the Council receives cost effective high quality Employment and Education related legal advice. To ensure that all such work is carried out to the requirements of relevant clients and to appropriate professional standards. Person Specification Key Knowledge * Thorough up to date knowledge of all aspects of Employment and Education Law. Relevant Experience PO3 * Relevant post qualification experience working as a solicitor/barrister or FILEX in the field of employment and education law, including relevant advocacy experience, preferably in local government. PO4 * Extensive post qualification experience working as a solicitor/barrister or FILEX in thefield of employment and education law including relevant advocacy experience at case/management/directions hearings preferably in local government. Experience of advising Committees and preparing reports, and in the recruitment of staff. PO5 * Substantial demonstrable post qualification experience working as a solicitor/barrister or FILEX in the field of employment and education law, including relevant advocacy experience, preferably in local government. Significant specialism in depth knowledge in employment and education law. Conduct of complex cases with minimal supervision. Liaison with client departments and senior officers. * Experience of supervising and managing junior staff. * Experience of using Word and electronic Case Management systems Qualification Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FILEX Rate of Pay PAYE: £38 Umbrella: £49.86 Location: Remote working
