About the role
Anderson Knight is recruiting for its client, a well-established accountancy practice based in Lanarkshire, for a Part Qualified Accountant to join their growing team.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious accountant who is looking to develop their career within practice and gain exposure to a varied portfolio of clients. You will work with a range of businesses, including sole traders, limited companies, partnerships and not-for-profit organisations across a variety of sectors and sizes.
The role will involve preparing statutory and management accounts, VAT returns and personal and corporate tax computations, while taking responsibility for your own portfolio of clients. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in wider advisory work, including business planning, forecasting, budgeting and tax planning.
As you develop within the role, you will also have the opportunity to support and mentor junior members of the team, helping with their development and ensuring they remain up to date with relevant accounting software and processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing statutory accounts from client records through to Partner review.
* Supporting the Partners by reviewing work completed by junior team members.
* Preparing and reviewing corporation tax returns and CT600s.
* Preparing and reviewing VAT returns.
* Preparing and reviewing personal tax computations.
* Managing and developing relationships across a varied portfolio of clients alongside the Partners.
* Providing support and guidance to junior members of the team.
* Getting involved in advisory projects, including business planning, forecasting, budgeting and tax planning.
* Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
About You
* Working within a SME CA Firm
* Currently studying towards an ACCA qualification.
* Strong experience preparing accounts within practice.
* Good knowledge of accounts, tax and VAT.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to work independently, manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
* Experience using accounting software such as Sage and IRIS.
* Previous audit experience would be advantageous.
* A proactive approach with the confidence to work directly with clients and support junior team members.
