COMMERCIAL HEATING & MECHANICAL INSTALLER – SMALL WORKS

SALARY: £41,600 per annum (£20 per hour, based on 40 hours)

LOCATION: Midlands – Ideally Birmingham, Leicester or Surrounding Areas

Red Rock Consultants are working on behalf of an established Facilities Management and Building Services business who are looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Heating & Mechanical Installer to join their Small Works division.

THE COMPANY

Our client delivers Facilities Management, Building Services and Small Works projects to a wide range of commercial customers.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced installer to support a varied programme of commercial installation and refurbishment works.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for delivering commercial mechanical installations, including boiler replacements, heating systems, associated pipework and planned upgrade projects.

This is a hands-on role involving a mixture of independent working and working alongside other engineers across retail, commercial offices, schools, hospitality and other commercial premises.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Installing, replacing and modifying commercial boilers, heating equipment, pumps, valves and distribution pipework.

* Completing mechanical remedial works, system upgrades and associated installations.

* Reading drawings, specifications and scopes of work.

* Organising daily site activities, materials, tools and equipment.

* Taking the lead on installations or supporting another engineer.

* Monitoring labour, materials and project allowances.

* Coordinating with the Small Works team, clients and other trades.

* Completing testing, commissioning and handover activities within competence.

* Providing job updates, completion photographs and handover documentation.

* Supporting surveys, material take-offs and quotations where appropriate.

* Maintaining safe working practices and high standards of workmanship.

THE PERSON

* Proven experience delivering commercial mechanical installations.

* Experience with commercial boilers, heating systems and associated pipework.

* Recognised plumbing and heating qualification, such as NVQ Level 2 or 3, or equivalent.

* Current commercial and domestic gas qualifications relevant to the work undertaken.

* Relevant LPG qualifications and OFTEC qualifications for oil-fired installation and commissioning, where applicable.

* Ability to complete installations independently or work as part of an installation team.

* Good understanding of labour allowances, materials and project programmes.

* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and stay away overnight when required.

* Experience with HVAC, ventilation, electrical installations, plant rooms, controls and SimPRO would be advantageous.
