Mechanical Fitter

We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join a major substation project on a freelance basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile energy infrastructure project with competitive rates and long-term prospects. Key Responsibilities: * Installation, assembly, and maintenance of mechanical components within substations * Working on high-voltage equipment including switchgear and associated systems * Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications * Carrying out inspections, testing, and fault finding * Ensuring all work is completed in line with health, safety, and quality standards Essential Requirements: * Valid NG Persons certification (National Grid) * Proven experience working on substation or similar high-voltage projects * Relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering) * CSCS or ECS card * Strong understanding of site safety procedures and permit-to-work systems Desirable Certifications: * National Grid BESC (Basic Electrical Safety Competence) * National Grid Competent Person / Authorised Person * IPAF / PASMA * Manual Handling & Working at Height * First Aid at Work To Apply: Please send over your up-to-date CV for the Mechanical Fitter role.
