We are seeking an experienced Component Engineer to join our customers engineering team on a maternity cover contract through to January 2027. This is a senior-level role suited to a confident professional who can work independently, manage complex component-related challenges, and support cross-functional engineering teams.

Contract: Maternity Cover - Until End of January 2027
Rate: £27.50 per hour
Status: Inside IR35
Key Responsibilities
Select, approve, and qualify purchased components used within assemblies or end products
Ensure component selections meet cost, reliability, and quality requirements
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to purchased components
Work closely with product developers and design engineers to support design reviews and component decisions
Manage component-related projects and processes with minimal supervision
Coach, review, and support the work of junior engineers or lower-level professionals
Address complex, non-routine problems using advanced technical judgementAbout You
Proven experience working as a Component Engineer or in a closely related engineering role
Strong understanding of component qualification, supplier selection, and cost-reliability trade-offs
Comfortable xwzovoh managing projects independently and making sound technical decisions
Experienced in collaborating with development and design teams
Confident in mentoring and reviewing the work of others
Ability to resolve difficult and sometimes complex engineering problems
