CNC Machinist Ampthill, Bedfordshire 4-Day Week (Mon–Thurs) | 37.5 Hours | Permanent We’re working with a leading global engineering and defence organisation to recruit a CNC Machinist into their high-performing manufacturing team in Ampthill. The Role You’ll be working in a precision CNC environment producing complex components for both R&D and production. * Set, edit and operate 3, 4 & 5-axis CNC machines * Work with Heidenheim and Fanuc controls * Prove out new programs, tooling, and fixtures * Make offsets and machining adjustments to optimise performance * Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications * Carry out inspection using gauges and review CMM data * Support process development and tooling improvements * Work closely with engineering to refine machining methods * Apply problem-solving techniques to improve output and quality What We’re Looking For * Strong background in multi-axis CNC machining (3/4/5 axis) * Experience with Fanuc and/or Heidenheim controls * Confident in program editing, setup, and prove-out * Able to work from detailed engineering drawings * Experience with inspection and quality control processes * A proactive, solutions-driven mindset * Understanding of lean manufacturing / 6S principles Nice to Have * Milling experience * Exposure to R&D, prototype or low-volume manufacturing * Experience creating process documentation or work instructions * Continuous improvement / process optimisation experience What’s on Offer * Competitive salary + sign-on bonus available * Relocation financial support if you're moving to the area * 4-day working week – every Friday off * Flexible working approach * The chance to work on high-impact, cutting-edge engineering projects * Clear career progression within a globally recognised organisation Interested?
