About the role
We are seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to establish, implement, and maintain a robust compliance framework across MSP’s manufacturing operations. The role will ensure full alignment with UK statutory requirements, ISO standards, and internal policies, while driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and operational governance. This is a hands-on role focused on embedding structure, discipline, and scalable processes within a developing manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Management (Factory Environment)
Lead, manage, and mentor a team of software developers, fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment.
Take ownership of day-to-day health and safety within the manufacturing facility.
Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and internal policies.
Develop and implement safe systems of work, risk assessments, and method statements.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Drive a proactive safety culture through training, engagement, and visible leadership.
Ensure appropriate PPE, signage, and safe working practices are embedded across production areas.
Regulatory & Manufacturing Compliance
Ensure the factory operates in line with all applicable manufacturing and regulatory requirements.
Maintain compliance with relevant legislation (e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, RIDDOR).
Implement and oversee compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Work closely with engineering, production, and R&D teams to ensure compliant product and process design.
Support audits, inspections, and engagement with regulators and clients.
ISO & Integrated Management System (IMS)
Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of ISO management systems, including:
ISO 9001 (Quality)
ISO 14001 (Environmental)
ISO 45001 (Health & Safety)
Plan and conduct internal audits and coordinate external certification audits.
Ensure systems are practical, embedded, and aligned to manufacturing operations.
Drive continuous improvement through corrective and preventive actions.
Document Control & Governance
Establish and manage a structured document control system across MSP.
Ensure all policies, procedures, SOPs, and records are controlled, current, and auditable.
Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), safe systems of work (SSOW), and process documentation.
Maintain traceability of design changes, materials, and compliance records.
Process Development & Continuous Improvement
Establish and manage a structured document control system across MSP.
Ensure all policies, procedures, SOPs, and records are controlled, current, and auditable.
Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), safe systems of work (SSOW), and process documentation.
Maintain traceability of design changes, materials, and compliance records.
Audit, Inspection & Reporting
Conduct regular internal audits across safety, quality, and compliance.
Prepare reports on compliance performance, risks, and improvement actions.
Maintain records to demonstrate compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.
Lead management reviews and support senior leadership reporting.
Training & Culture
Deliver training on health & safety, compliance, and ISO processes.
Develop competency frameworks and training plans for factory staff.
Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety ownership.

Experience and Expertise
Essential
Proven experience in a Compliance / HSQE / Quality role within manufacturing or engineering.
Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and regulatory compliance.
Experience implementing and managing ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 systems.
Hands-on experience developing SOPs, risk assessments, and compliance processes.
Strong audit and investigation capability.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively to develop innovative solutions.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in team management, mentoring, and leadership.
Desirable
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
ISO Led Auditor qualification
Experience in battery, electrical, or energy manufacturing environments
