Vacancy detailDevOps Engineer 60,000 to 80,000 GBPBonusHybrid WORKINGLocation: Manchester, North West – United Kingdom Type: PermanentSenior DevOps Engineer – National Security & GovernmentLocations: Bristol, Manchester, Cheltenham / UK-wideSalary: 60,000 – 80,000Security Clearance: Security Clearance requiredWe are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join an established Agile engineering team working on a large-scale programme within National Security and Central Government.This is an opportunity to work on a new bespoke software solution, with a strong focus on designing and building the underlying infrastructure rather than simply maintaining existing environments.The RoleYou will play a key role in creating secure, scalable and highly available infrastructure, working closely with software engineers and technical stakeholders.You will be responsible for:Designing, building and implementing AWS cloud infrastructure.Creating and managing Kubernetes environments, alongside Docker and Helm.Developing automated processes for deployment, testing, monitoring and infrastructure management.Building infrastructure and tooling to support new software products.Implementing security, compliance and disaster recovery processes.Optimising infrastructure for availability, resilience and cost efficiency.Monitoring and improving application and infrastructure performance.Troubleshooting complex infrastructure and application issues.Supporting and mentoring junior DevOps engineers.What We're Looking ForWe're particularly interested in engineers with 5+ years of DevOps experience who have genuinely been involved in building infrastructure from the ground up, rather than primarily maintaining existing platforms.You should have experience with:Strong AWS cloud engineering experience.Designing and deploying secure, scalable cloud infrastructure.Kubernetes, Docker and Helm.Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform.CI/CD and automated deployment pipelines.Agile engineering environments such as Scrum or Kanban.Highly available and resilient infrastructure.Working with technical and senior stakeholders.Experience with technologies such as GitLab, Jenkins, Packer, Vault, Serverless, Elastic Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Artifactory or Nexus would also be beneficial.Security ClearanceDue to the nature of the work, you will be required to obtain high-level UK Security Clearance.To be eligible, you must be a British passport holder and have lived permanently in the UK for the last 5 years.LocationThe role can be based from Bristol, Manchester or Cheltenham, with flexibility for candidates across England and Wales.We are particularly interested in candidates within approximately 90 minutes of one of the offices, including areas around Bristol, Manchester, London, Leeds and the England/Wales border.What's On Offer60,000 – 80,000 salaryWork on complex National Security and Government programmesReference: AMC-AQU-CADEPostcode: Manchester (M1)#adquApply for this vacancyYour CV will be sent to the selected department.
