Technical Specialist

Technical Specialist Location: Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent Salary: £56,000 - £58,000 (Including Shift Allowance) We are looking for a Technical Specialist to join a highly automated warehouse and material handling environment. This person will act as the on-site technical escalation lead, supporting complex automation and controls issues across automated systems and conveyors. The role is hands-on and operational, focused on fault finding, root cause analysis, system reliability, and supporting engineering teams on shift. Key Responsibilities * Act as the lead escalation point for complex technical faults * Diagnose and resolve PLC, controls, electrical and mechanical issues * Support and guide shift engineers with technical expertise * Carry out root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes * Improve uptime, reliability and overall system performance * Manage PLC software backups, modifications and version control * Work closely with operations teams, customers and third-party suppliers * Support continuous improvement activities across site Skills & Experience Required * Strong background in Controls / Automation Engineering * Experience with Siemens S7 / TIA Portal PLC systems * Knowledge of SCADA and automated systems * Strong fault finding and troubleshooting ability * Experience within warehouse automation, material handling, conveyors, FMCG or manufacturing automation * Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment * Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Proactive Global is committed to equality in the workplace and is an equal opportunity employer.
