Assistant Site Manager - Waste Management

A leading hazardous waste and environmental services provider is seeking an Assistant Site Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy waste treatment and transfer facility in Merseyside. Working closely with the Site Manager, you will help oversee site operations, ensure permit compliance, and support the safe and efficient management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
This is a hands-on operational role offering excellent exposure to site leadership, compliance management, and team coordination within a growing and sustainability-focused organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting the efficient running of daily activities across the waste management facility.
Ensuring all site activities operate in line with environmental permits and waste verification procedures.
Working alongside technical and site-based teams to ensure operational processes run effectively.
Overseeing site inventory levels to ensure storage capacities remain compliant with permit conditions.
Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and waste segregation practices across operations.
Helping manage staff onboarding, training schedules, and competency tracking.
Stepping in to support site leadership responsibilities during periods of absence or leave.
What You’ll Need:
Background within hazardous waste, industrial services, environmental operations, or chemical processing environments.
Sound knowledge of environmental compliance standards, permitting requirements, and HSE regulations.
Experience supporting operational teams within a busy industrial or processing setting.
Confidence in managing priorities and responding effectively within a dynamic environment.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to operational detail.
