An established engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive H&S professional to play a key role in maintaining compliance, improving safety performance, and promoting a positive health and safety culture across the organisation.

The Role

As the Health & Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring company-wide compliance with UK health and safety legislation, supporting managers with safety initiatives, and driving continuous improvement across operational sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and associated regulations.
  • Develop, maintain, and review H&S policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Coordinate PUWER and LOLER inspection schedules and maintain compliance records.
  • Conduct workplace audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Support accident, incident, and near-miss investigations.
  • Deliver H&S reports and presentations to management teams.
  • Facilitate Health & Safety committee meetings and drive employee engagement.
  • Coordinate H&S training programmes and monitor certification requirements.
  • Manage fire safety processes, including alarm testing and emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and support external audits and inspections.

About You

  • Previous experience in a dedicated Health & Safety role within an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation, including HASWA, PUWER, and LOLER.
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) essential.
  • HNC in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
