About the role
Our client is a leading US law firm with a highly regarded London employment practice. They are now hiring a mid level Employment Associate (3-5 years post qualification experience). The team is extremely busy with a significant pipeline of work forecast for the rest of 2026 and throughout 2027. The team are profitable and continuing to grow, with a substantial appetite to invest further.
This is one of a few roles currently in London that genuinely offers the combination of high-quality work, meaningful responsibility, strong senior support and a team with real momentum behind it.
Highly competitive, above market rate US salary and excellent benefits. Target hours very good at 1600.
The structure of the team is particularly attractive.
It is large enough that you will feel like you are in an established, credible employment practice with a strong flow of sophisticated work, but not so large that associates disappear into a hierarchy or spend years sitting behind more senior lawyers waiting for that next step.
Associates are given real responsibility in this team. You will have the opportunity to run with on matters, build direct client relationships and develop your own work, while still having close access to experienced senior lawyers and partners when you need guidance.
The workload is a very interesting mix.
There is a significant amount of employment litigation, alongside complex advisory work and broader employment matters for major international businesses. The firm is looking for someone who enjoys variety and wants to become a strong all-round employment lawyer rather than being pushed into a narrow specialism too early.
The team is also known for investing heavily in associate development including annual international Associate retreats (which always get great feedback from their lawyers). There is a strong training culture, flexible 50/50 hybrid working, regular access to senior experts and a clear emphasis on helping associates progress rather than simply servicing the workload.
Ideally, you will be:
- England & Wales qualified
- Currently working within a well regarded London employment practice
- Comfortable handling a mixed contentious and advisory workload
- Interested in taking on greater responsibility and client exposure
- Ambitious, commercially minded and keen to develop within a growing international platform
This would really suit an ambitious, talented mid level Employment lawyer with 3-5 years PQE who enjoys high-quality City work but wants more visibility, training and support, and more responsibility.
