We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in UCL’s workforce.About the roleThe Director of Development (Faculties) provides strategic leadership for fundraising across UCL's seven ‘non-health’ faculties, and UCL’s Student Union, leading a team of experienced fundraising professionals responsible for securing philanthropic gifts between 100,000 and 5 million.The Faculties included within this portfolio are:Faculty of Arts and HumanitiesBartlett Faculty of the Built EnvironmentFaculty of Engineering SciencesThe Institute of EducationFaculty of LawsFaculty of Mathematical & Physical SciencesFaculty of Social & Historical SciencesUCL’s Student UnionWorking in close partnership with Deans, Heads of Division/Departments, academic leaders and Advancement colleagues, the Director will develop ambitious fundraisingstrategies, build a strong pipeline of philanthropic support and ensure faculty priorities contribute to the success of UCL's institutional fundraising campaign.Alongside leading the team, the postholder will personally manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors while creating an ambitious, collaborative and high-performing fundraising culture.Key accountabilitiesStrategic LeadershipDevelop and implement fundraising strategies across UCL's seven non-health faculties, and the Student Union.Build strong strategic relationships with Executive Deans, Heads of Division/Departments and senior academic leaders.Identify compelling philanthropic opportunities across these faculties.Ensure faculty fundraising priorities align with institutional campaign objectives.Fundraising and Relationship ManagementManage a portfolio of prospects capable of making gifts between 100,000 and 5 million.Develop cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies leading to significant philanthropic investment.Secure support from individuals and trusts and foundations.Partner closely with the Director of Principal Giving and International, where prospects have capacity for transformational gifts above 5 million.Collaborate across Advancement to maximise fundraising opportunities.Represent UCL alongside senior academic leaders in donor engagement.Maintain excellent prospect management and pipeline discipline.Leadership and ManagementLead and inspire a high-performing team.Set clear objectives, KPIs and performance expectations.Monitor performance against fundraising targets.Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.Coach and develop staff to maximise their potential.Promote best practice across the Development function.Contribute to the strategic leadership of UCL Advancement.Identify emerging philanthropic opportunities across the faculty portfolio.Support campaign planning and delivery.Build collaborative relationships across the University.Champion an exceptional donor experience.About youQualifications, experience and knowledgeSignificant experience securing major philanthropic gifts between 100,000 and 5 million.Demonstrable success securing six- and seven-figure philanthropic gifts.Proven success leading high-performing fundraising teams.Experience developing and delivering fundraising strategies.Strong understanding of donor strategy and prospect management.Experience managing complex fundraising portfolios.Skills and abilitiesStrategic thinker with excellent judgement.Outstanding communication and influencing skills.Strong negotiation skills.Entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to achieving ambitious targets.Ability to translate academic priorities into compelling donor propositions.Excellent organisational and project management skills.Desirable CriteriaExperience fundraising in higher education, education, culture, science or research.Experience working across a broad academic portfolio.Knowledge of campaign fundraising.What we offerAs well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits some of which are below:41 Days holiday (27 days annual leave 8 bank holiday and 6 closure days)Additional 5 days’ annual leave purchase schemeDefined benefit career average revalued earnings pension scheme (CARE)Cycle to work scheme and season ticket loanImmigration loan • Relocation scheme for certain postsOn-Site nurseryOn-site gymEnhanced maternity, paternity and adoption payEmployee assistance programme: Staff Support ServiceDiscounted medical insuranceVisit to find out more.Our commitment to Equality, Diversity and InclusionAs London’s Global University, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation.
