Senior Employee Relations Advisor

About the role

An established, values‑led organisation seeks a Senior Employee Relations Adviser to join its People team. Responsibilities

Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters—including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, and organisational change cases. Work closely with managers, HR colleagues, trade unions, and senior stakeholders to ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes. Support policy development, deliver training and coaching, analyse ER trends, promote early intervention and conflict resolution, and contribute to wider people projects and initiatives.

Qualifications and experience

Substantial experience managing complex employee relations casework within an HR environment. Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law, with ability to provide pragmatic, risk‑based advice to managers and stakeholders. Experience working with trade unions, supporting organisational change, developing HR policies, and coaching leaders is highly desirable. A CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience) and excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills are essential.
