Description of Job

At St Michael le Belfrey in York, known as The Belfrey, we're preparing for a once-in-a-generation moment. In 2027 we will return to our transformed medieval church building following the completion of Impact - our multi-million-pound restoration and redevelopment project that will create new opportunities for worship, mission, discipleship and serving the city of York and beyond.

We're looking for an exceptional Interim Head of Operations to help lead us through this exciting and demanding season of change. Working alongside the Priest in Charge and senior leadership team and as a member of the Impact Project Team, you'll play a pivotal role in preparing for our return, embedding new ways of working, and ensuring the operational excellence needed to support a thriving, growing church.

This is a unique opportunity to combine strategic leadership, organisational expertise and a passion for mission as we seek to bring God's transformation to the North and position The Belfrey for its next season of impact.

Responsibilities

You’ll provide exceptional leadership alongside the Priest in Charge overseeing all change events at The Belfrey, ensuring smooth operational effectiveness and delivering our mission to bring God’s transformation of the North.

The contract is expected to last around 18 months, until Impact is completed, at which time the requirements will be reassessed.

This is a full time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional Sunday and evening work). The role will be based out of the Belfrey’s office in central York, although there will be requirements to work across the church locations in York. Some flexibility for hybrid working may be considered.

Compensation

Salary: Pay Band E £42-£47k depending on experience
