Mechanical Planner

Mechanical Planner (Permanent) Location: Midlands Sector: Water Treatment / Mechanical Engineering Are you from a Mechanical Engineering background and looking to take the next step in your career by moving into project planning? Our client, an established contractor operating within the water treatment sector, is looking to appoint a Mechanical Planner to join their team in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong mechanical engineering knowledge who is looking to transition into a planning-focused position. Previous experience as a Planner is not essential, making this an ideal opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer or mechanically biased professional looking to develop a long-term career within project planning. The Role As Mechanical Planner, you will work closely with the project and delivery teams to support the planning, coordination and successful delivery of mechanical works across water treatment projects. You will assist with developing and maintaining project programmes, monitoring progress and ensuring works are planned effectively. Key Responsibilities Assist with the development and maintenance of project programmes. Plan and sequence mechanical engineering works across water treatment projects. Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and engineering teams to understand project requirements. Monitor project progress against agreed programmes and key milestones. Identify potential programme delays and work with the wider project team to develop solutions. Attend project, planning and progress meetings. Assist with the coordination of labour, materials and subcontractor activities. Produce programme updates, progress reports and other project documentation. Develop knowledge and experience of planning software and project controls.Requirements A strong background in Mechanical Engineering. Experience within water treatment, utilities, construction, process engineering or a similar environment would be advantageous. A good understanding of mechanical engineering works and how projects are delivered. A genuine interest in developing a career within project planning. Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with site teams, Project Managers and engineers. Previous planning experience is advantageous but is not essential. Experience with planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project would be beneficial but is not essential.What's on Offer? Permanent position with an established contractor.
