Lead Education Child Protection PractitionerSalary: £48,000-£49,000 per annumContract: 12-Month Fixed Term ContractLocation: West London (Hybrid - 2-3 days per week in the office)Make a real difference to the lives of children and young peopleWe are looking for an experienced safeguarding professional with a strong education background to join a multi-agency child protection team as a Lead Education Child Protection Practitioner.This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in safeguarding children by representing the education perspective within complex child protection processes. Working closely with schools, Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), social care, health and other partner agencies, you'll help ensure children receive the right support at the right time while driving effective multi-agency collaboration.As the Lead Education Child Protection Practitioner, you will:
- Provide expert education and safeguarding advice within child protection investigations and strategy discussions.
- Build strong relationships with schools, colleges and education providers to support effective safeguarding practice.
- Work alongside Designated Safeguarding Leads to gather and analyse information that informs statutory safeguarding decisions.
- Support and quality assure education reports for Child Protection Conferences.
- Attend Child Protection Conferences where appropriate, representing the education perspective.
- Contribute to Section 47 enquiries, strategy meetings and multi-agency decision making.
- Ensure education settings play an active role in safeguarding planning and child protection processes.
- Promote best practice across safeguarding, SEND, attendance, SEMH and wider educational provision.
- Support service improvement by identifying trends, sharing expertise and strengthening partnership working across agencies.
- Significant experience working within an education setting, ideally in a safeguarding leadership role.
- Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL.
- A recognised education qualification such as Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), HLTA or equivalent.
- A minimum of five years' experience in teaching or an education support role.
- Level 3 Safeguarding Children qualification.
- Excellent knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education, statutory safeguarding guidance and child protection legislation.
- Strong understanding of SEND, SEMH, attendance and the wider factors affecting vulnerable children.
- Outstanding communication, relationship-building and influencing skills.
- The confidence to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
