About the role

Overview

St Mary\'s Kenmure seeks an experienced and strategic Head of Estates & Infrastructure to join the Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the Head of Integrated Children\'s Services, you will provide leadership across estates, facilities, infrastructure and health and safety to ensure the physical environment supports the delivery of exceptional care.

This pivotal leadership role includes developing and delivering the long-term Estates Strategy, leading capital investment and improvement programmes, and ensuring that buildings, systems and support services remain safe, compliant, efficient and fit for the future. You will also oversee governance, compliance, risk management and fire safety arrangements while ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and continuously improved.

Responsibilities

  • Lead estates, facilities, infrastructure and health and safety; develop and implement the long-term Estates Strategy; manage capital investment and improvement programmes.
  • Ensure buildings, systems and support services are safe, compliant, efficient and fit for the future.
  • Act as the Health and Safety Officer, providing strategic leadership for health, safety and environmental management; embed a culture prioritising safety and wellbeing for children, staff and visitors.
  • Oversee governance, compliance, risk management and fire safety arrangements, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and continuously improved.
  • Lead estates maintenance, facilities, catering, domestic services, grounds and digital infrastructure; collaborate with colleagues and external partners to operate seamlessly in support of 24hour care.
  • Balance strategic thinking with operational excellence; manage complex estates, multidisciplinary teams, contractors and capital projects; deliver services within regulated or high-risk environments; recognise the impact of the physical environment on trauma-affected children and create safe, welcoming spaces.

Qualifications and experience

  • Significant experience in managing complex estates and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience overseeing contractors and capital projects in regulated or high-risk environments.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed design and environments for children and young people.
