We're working with a leading law firm who are looking for a Legal Support Assistant to join their Court of Protection team in Shrewsbury. You will provide legal and administrative support to fee earners, assisting with client matters, file management, diary management and general department administration. This would suit someone with legal administration or professional services experience who is looking to develop their career within a legal environment.


Responsibilities include:

  • Provide legal and administrative support to fee earners across the Court of Protection team.
  • Assist with client matters, including taking instructions, arranging meetings and preparing notes.
  • Act as a first point of contact for department enquiries, dealing with client and professional queries within remit.
  • Manage diaries, appointments and internal and client meetings.
  • Gather initial client information and liaise with support teams to assist with file opening.
  • Maintain and update client files, including preparing forms, bundles and indexes of documents.
  • Prepare correspondence and post in line with firm procedures and systems.
  • Monitor the movement of documents and files, including outstanding work and backlogs.
  • Record time spent on client matters accurately and assist with billing where applicable.
  • Process payments, invoices and third-party payments as required.
  • Assist with preparing files for costing and closing files in accordance with firm procedures.
  • Undertake client property visits where required.
  • Support colleagues with overflow work and provide cover across the department when needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with professional, regulatory and data protection requirements.


What we need from you:

  • Previous experience with Court of Protection or Private Client law.
  • Strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence dealing with clients by telephone, email and in person.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
  • Good numerical and IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience using electronic case management or practice management systems would be beneficial.
  • A full driving licence is required due to occasional client property visits.
