The successful candidate will use their experience in HR operations to ensure the delivery of a consistently excellent standard of service to all stakeholders and will continually look for ways to improve. It is essential that applicants have a working knowledge of HR databases, ideally iTrent, have an understanding of job evaluation, and an up to date understanding of employment law. The HR Advisor will be expected to deliver professional advice on employment policies, casework, and best practice. Working closely with the Deputy Head of HR and Head of HR, this is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to expand their knowledge and experience in a small, friendly team. This post is offered on a permanent, full-time basis and is available immediately. Job Requirements- Experience working within an HR environment - Strong working knowledge of current UK employment legislation and best practice - Experience using HR databases and reporting software - Knowledge of pensions administration processes including, starters and leavers, re-enrolment, salary sacrifice, ill health retirement and death in service - Understanding of job evaluation, trained as a HERA role analyst or willing to undertake training - Strong time management and administrative skills - Flexible, organised and agile approach to work - High level of written and spoken communication skills with strong interpersonal skills - Strong Microsoft IT skills including Word and Excel - Keen attention to detail - Confidence in providing diplomatic advice and guidance on routine HR matters and able to deal effectively with staff at all levels, including Directorate, Heads of Faculties and hourly paid professorsJob ResponsibilitiesThe HR Advisor is expected to provide day-to-day leadership of operational processes including payroll and pension processing, the administration of learning and development activities, and recruitment, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of tasks by the two HR Assistants. The HR Advisor is also expected to utilise their knowledge and experience for the continuing professional development of the HR Assistants. The HR Advisor will act as the first point of contact for all HR advisory queries including application of policies and procedures delegating to the HR Assistants where appropriate and ensuring necessary matters are escalated as appropriate. The HR Advisor will support and complement the work of the HR team to ensure comprehensive and professional advice is provided to managers and teams, often working closely with the Deputy Head of HR and Head of HR to ensure that HR operations are running smoothly and effectively.
