Are you a patient, confident, and resilient Behaviour Teaching Assistant looking for a new opportunity where you can make a real difference to young people? Do you have a natural ability to build positive relationships and support pupils who may struggle with behaviour and emotional regulation?
A nurturing and inclusive Specialist School in Thatcham is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with pupils who may experience SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties, anxiety, or other barriers to learning.
As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will provide a combination of classroom, 1:1, and small group support, helping pupils to develop the skills and confidence needed to engage positively with education.
This Behaviour Teaching Assistant role will involve:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural and additional needs
* Supporting pupils to manage their emotions and regulate their behaviour
* Helping pupils develop positive strategies for managing frustration and difficult situations
* Building positive, trusting relationships and acting as a consistent role model
* Encouraging pupils to engage with learning and classroom activities
* Supporting teachers with behaviour management and classroom routines
* Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, independence, and social skills
* Recognising behavioural triggers and responding calmly and appropriately
* Supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and make positive progress
* Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and other professionals
* Helping to maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
* ASAP start
* Accessible Thatcham location with good transport linksIf you have experience working with children or young people, particularly within education, SEN, youth work, sports, care, or behavioural support, we would love to hear from you. Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable, but patience, resilience, consistency, and a genuine passion for helping young people are equally important for this Behaviour Teaching Assistant position.
