Full Time (term time only)

A well established special school in East London are actively seeking an experienced autism specialist teacher to join their school from September. The students within this school have autism, speech language and communication needs, and behavior requirements. Classes are catered on level of ability, meaning you will be teaching a mixed age group but they will be learning on a similar level, you will be expected to modify lessons on the temperament of the day and their individual needs when required. 

Operating as part of a trust that prides itself on their high staff retention rate and the ability to invest in their staff, offering specific SEN training in-house and teaching alongside SEN experts, speech and language and occupational therapist you have the best opportunity to impact these students lives and continuity within the classroom. ECTs are more than welcome to apply to start their SEN teaching career in a supportive environment. 

Requirements; 

  • QTS or equivalent 
  • Special Education Degree (desirable) 
  • Experience within a special school setting preferred or can display strong experience with SEN children in a professional setting 
  • Experience with children that display SLD, ASC, SPLD 
  • Teach individuals or small groups of pupils within or outside the class
  • Prepare lessons and resources
  • Mark and assess work
  • Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet individual pupil need
  • Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists
  • Behaviour xwzovoh management
