Principal Electrical Engineer

TKMS ATLAS UK is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to drive the design and integration of electrical systems across our advanced sonar, submarine, and autonomous technology programmes. Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems for complex maritime products
- Define architectures, select components, and ensure safety and EMC compliance
- Produce and review schematics, wiring diagrams and cable assemblies
- Support integration, testing and commissioning activities
- Conduct design reviews and maintain documentation accuracy
- Coaching and mentoring junior engineers to grow team capability
- Collaborate with suppliers, customers and multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
- Strong knowledge of electrical system design, including power distribution and control systems
- Experience with CAD tools and CE/UKCA directives
- Familiarity with EMC, electrical safety and industry standards
- System‑level integration and debugging experience
- Experience with PLCs, motor control or automation desirable
- Strong communication, problem‑solving and team‑working skills with leadership ability
