About the role
Zen Educate is seeking a highly organised and dedicated SENCO for a full-time, long-term position at a secondary academy in the Knowle/South Bristol area.
This is a critical leadership support role starting ASAP and running through until the end of the summer term. You will be at the heart of the school's inclusion team, ensuring that students with additional needs receive the tailored support they require to flourish.
The Role: Leading Inclusion & Equity
As the SENCO, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the school's SEN policy. You will coordinate provision for students with EHCPs and those on the SEN register, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to maintain high standards of inclusive practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Provision Mapping: Coordinating and overseeing the delivery of targeted interventions for pupils with a range of needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and Learning Difficulties).
EHCP Management: Leading Annual Reviews and ensuring all Education, Health and Care Plans are up-to-date and effectively implemented.
Staff Guidance: Providing professional guidance and training to teachers and TAs to ensure high-quality "Quality First" teaching across the curriculum.
External Liaison: Acting as the primary point of contact for external agencies, including educational psychologists, health professionals, and the local authority.
Parental Engagement: Building strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers to ensure a collaborative approach to student progress.
What We Are Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential.
National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO): Highly desirable (or significant proven experience in a SENCO/Inclusion Lead role).
Expert Knowledge: A deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience navigating the EHCP application and review process.
Leadership Skills: The ability to lead a team of TAs and influence teaching staff to adopt inclusive strategies.
Resilience & Empathy: A passion for advocacy and the ability to remain calm and methodical in a fast-paced secondary environment.
