Mechanical Design Engineer – Special Purpose Machinery ( solid Edge )

Hybrid role candidate required in the office on Mon & Wed

The Role

KAP Technical are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our clients engineering team . In this role, you will take ownership of the end-to-end design and development of bespoke Special Purpose Machinery (SPM) and industrial automation systems.

Utilising Solid Edge, you will work with the team on projects from concept through to manufacturing, assembly, and final commissioning.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative problem-solver who enjoys working on complex moving mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

* Concept & 3D Design: Lead the mechanical design of complex, bespoke special purpose machinery, automation systems, and innovative mechanisms using Solid Edge.

* Manufacturing Documentation: Produce accurate 2D manufacturing drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).

* System Integration: Specify and integrate pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical components into machinery designs.

* Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs comply with the Machinery Directive

* CAD Expertise: Proven, advanced experience using Solid Edge (cross-training from SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo will be considered for the right candidate).

* Industry Experience: A strong track record of designing bespoke special purpose machinery, heavy machinery, materials handling, or automated systems..

* Component Specification: Solid experience selecting and integrating pneumatic actuators, gearboxes, motors, sensors, and linear bearings.
