Established Family-Run Food Manufacturer
Protea Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and highly respected family-run food manufacturer based in the Glasgow area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Technical or Quality professional who is looking to take the next step in their career or for an existing manager seeking a new challenge.
Looking to either step up into this role , or already established, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of the site's Technical function while also playing a key role in managing specifications and supporting NPD activities.
The Opportunity
This is a varied, hands-on role that offers real visibility across the business. You'll work closely with Production, NPD, and senior leadership to ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance are maintained while supporting the development of new and existing products.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Lead internal audits, GMP inspections, and BRC compliance activities
- Manage customer specifications, artwork approvals, and technical documentation
- Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and implement corrective actions
- Produce and manage NPD specifications in line with customer requirements
- Support supplier approval processes and raw material risk assessments
- Assist with HACCP reviews and wider food safety initiatives across the site
- Work collaboratively with Production and NPD teams on product trials and continuous improvement projects
About You
- Experience within a Technical or Quality role in food manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety, allergen management, and quality systems
- Experience working within a BRC-accredited environment is desirable
- Exposure to UK retailer standards and specifications
- Confident communicator who can build effective working relationships across departments
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
- A relevant Food Science, Technical, or related qualification is essential
- Ambition to develop and grow within a supportive business environment
