About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled Mechanic/Technician to join my clients Transport Operations team. You’ll help keep our fleet of vehicles and plant equipment safe, roadworthy, and running efficiently.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same—from diagnosing faults to carrying out repairs and servicing a wide range of vehicles.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Servicing, maintaining, and repairing light and heavy vehicles and plant equipment
* Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
* Carrying out inspections, servicing, and MOT testing
* Completing repairs to a high standard
* Keeping accurate job records and paperwork
* Following all health & safety procedures
* Supporting and mentoring apprentices
* Helping improve workshop efficiency and productivity
What they are Looking For
Essential:
* Experience working in a workshop or garage
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good organisation and time management
* Knowledge of vehicle repair and maintenance (cars, HGVs, or plant)
* Understanding of health & safety practices
* Full UK driving licence
Qualifications (or willing to work towards):
* City & Guilds (or equivalent in vehicle maintenance)
* MOT Tester licence
* HGV Licence (Category C)
Desirable (Nice to Have):
* HGV Class C+E licence
* Experience with plant machinery
* IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
* Ongoing professional development

* Occasional out-of-hours work may be required
