Job Role - Lead Chef
Location: In The Wilde Cafe, Sutton Bank Visitor Centre, YO7 2EH
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £32,000 - £34,000 per year (OTE £34,000 - 36,000 inclusive of tips)
Hours: Daytime hours only - no evening work
About the Role
In The Wilde is our home inside the North York Moors National Park, sat at the top of Sutton Bank - the view James Herriot called the finest in England. We're building a kitchen that tastes of where it is: Yorkshire growers, local producers, the seasons setting the menu.
We're looking for a chef to lead it and to own the food. You'll set the menu, build the dishes and run the kitchen, with the autonomy of a head chef and a group investing seriously behind you.
It's daytime only, which means real cooking and proper standards without the late finishes.
You'll be responsible for producing high-quality, seasonal dishes that showcase the best of our local suppliers, and delivering an exceptional, but simple food offer that enhances the visitor experience.
Day to day you'll:
Lead menu planning, recipe development and how every plate looks when it lands
Cook to a consistently high standard and hold the kitchen to it
Run a clean, efficient, organised kitchen - ordering, stock, prep
Be responsible for the hygiene standards in your kitchen
Build genuine relationships with our local suppliers and growers
Keep us watertight on food safety, hygiene and health & safety
Bring on the junior team - train them, stretch them, make them better
Work hand-in-glove with front of house so service feels effortless
Champion seasonality and sustainability, workingto reduce waste significantly
