The school is seeking a committed BSL Level 2 (or above) Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will become an integral part of a highly supportive specialist classroom team, working with deaf pupils aged 4-11 who communicate primarily through British Sign Language.
Your role will involve:
Supporting pupils both academically and socially throughout the school day
Using BSL confidently to support communication and learning access
Signing instructions, explanations, and classroom discussions clearly and effectively
Helping pupils build confidence, independence, and positive relationships
Working closely with teachers, speech and language professionals, and hearing specialists
Creating a calm, inclusive, and engaging learning environmentThis is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference within a specialist setting where your skills are valued every single day.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Hold a minimum BSL Level 2 qualification
Have experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEN setting
Be confident communicating through BSL in a busy classroom environment
Demonstrate patience, warmth, consistency, and strong interpersonal skills
Be passionate about supporting deaf children and inclusive education
Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
