Electrical Engineer – Building Services M&E Consultant £45,000 - £55,000 London, UK Key Responsibilities Develop electrical designs and layouts for commercial and residential developments, including power distribution, lighting and lighting control systems, and life safety systems. Carry out independent site surveys to assess existing installations, collect technical information, and produce detailed reports, schematics, and practical recommendations. Demonstrate experience in the design of lighting, CCTV, telecommunications, and fire alarm systems. Confidently present technical proposals and reports to clients in a clear and accessible manner, while coordinating effectively with developers, architects, contractors, and design teams. Produce accurate schematic and layout drawings using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or equivalent software throughout all stages of the Plan of Work. Collaborate closely with project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Ensure all electrical designs align with UK regulations and industry guidance, including IET Wiring Regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and BSRIA standards.Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, ideally educated to Master’s level. Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in building services electrical design. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Trimble, Dialux or Relux, and other relevant electrical design software. Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and industry standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information effectively to clients and stakeholders. Membership with, or progression towards membership of, professional organisations such as CIBSE or IET is desirable.Key Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Confident client-facing communication and presentation skills.
