Maintenance Engineer – Electrical or Mechanical

Position 1 Recruitment is working with a leading manufacturing business in Bury St Edmunds, who are looking to recruit an experienced Maintenance Engineer. The client is open to candidates from either an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background. The successful candidate will have previous FMCG/manufacturing experience and be confident working in a heavy industrial environment, maintaining and repairing large-scale machinery and equipment. Location: Bury St Edmunds Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 depending on experience Panama Shift – Days & Nights Benefits * Up to 8% matched pension * 5% performance bonus after 6 months * Life assurance and income protection * 20 days holiday plus additional allowances * Enhanced sick pay * Employee Assistance Programme Key responsibilities include: * Planned and reactive maintenance * Fault finding and repair of industrial machinery * Electrical or mechanical maintenance, depending on your area of expertise * Working with motors, drives, PLCs and control systems * Maintenance of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors and gearboxes * Installation and commissioning of new machinery * Reading electrical schematics and/or mechanical drawings * Supporting continuous improvement and machine reliability * Completing maintenance records and following Health & Safety procedures Requirements * Qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline) * Previous FMCG/manufacturing experience is essential * Experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment * Strong electrical or mechanical maintenance experience * Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills * Able to read electrical schematics and/or mechanical drawings * Good understanding of Health & Safety, including Safe Isolation and LOTO * Willingness to work a Panama shift pattern, including days and nights To apply or find out more, contact Aiste: (phone number removed)
