The Opportunity As Senior Metallurgist, you will take ownership of metallurgical quality, melting operations, laboratory performance, and process improvement activities across a busy manufacturing environment. This is a highly visible role, combining approximately 60% office-based technical leadership and 40% shopfloor involvement, allowing you to stay close to production while influencing operational performance and quality standards. You will play a key role in driving metallurgical excellence, reducing scrap, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and mentoring technical and production teams. Key Responsibilities * Lead metallurgical operations within an established iron/steel manufacturing environment * Oversee melting and pouring processes, ensuring process control and product quality * Provide technical leadership across laboratory, quality, and production teams * Drive metallurgical investigations, root cause analysis, and technical reporting * Support continuous improvement, scrap reduction, and operational efficiency projects * Ensure compliance with quality standards including ISO 9001 and IATF requirements * Promote a strong safety culture and support risk management activities * Work closely with production and leadership teams to optimise materials and processes What We’re Looking For We are keen to hear from experienced Metallurgists with a background in iron or steel manufacturing, particularly those who enjoy balancing technical expertise with practical production involvement. You may currently be working as a: * Senior Metallurgist * Metallurgist * Process Metallurgist * Foundry Metallurgist * Melt Shop / Melting Specialist * Technical Metallurgist * Metallurgical Manager Experience within foundry, castings, iron, steel, or heavy manufacturing environments would be highly beneficial.
