About the role

Responsibilities


As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking an experienced Tax Advisory Director to join the Saffery Corporate Tax team. The role includes advising clients on transactions, tax due diligence, corporate reorganisations, employee share incentives and fund principal interactions. You will work directly with tax partners in London and regional offices and build relationships with clients and internal partners.



  • Develop go‑to‑market strategy with partners.

  • Lead and collaborate with a diverse range of clients including startups, entrepreneurial businesses, private family capital, large international groups, and investment funds.

  • Advise client management teams and shareholders on business disposals and acquisitions.

  • Run and coordinate tax due diligence projects, working closely with the corporate finance team and the employment tax and VAT teams.

  • Assist with the implementation of corporate reorganisations such as capital reduction and s110 demergers.

  • Review share purchase agreements, tax covenants and tax disclosure letters for acquisitions and disposals.

  • Prepare HMRC statutory and non‑statutory clearance applications.

  • Advise on structuring international groups and cross‑border corporate transactions, including liaising with firms in the Nexia network.

  • Advise on structuring property acquisitions and disposals.

  • Inheritance tax planning for private clients using shares.

  • Interpret and apply double tax agreements in respect of corporate transactions.

  • Liaise with tax compliance teams on follow‑up compliance work arising from transactions.


Qualifications



  • Qualified (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CTA) with several years post‑qualification experience in corporation tax, due diligence, and M&A.

  • Ability to provide advice and solutions to technical tax queries and interpret complex matters, communicating clearly to clients and team members.

  • Strong UK tax technical skills and understanding.

  • Project management skills: planning, prioritising work, meeting deadlines, monitoring budgets.

  • Ability to give progress updates to clients, colleagues and other advisers.

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Client focus and commercial awareness.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ensure delivery of quality work and take day‑to‑day responsibility for projects.
