Multimodal Freight Operator (Remote) Location: Fully remote – South East England preferred Company location: London Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum Start date: Immediate Equipment: Company laptop and mobile phone provided The Role We are recruiting an experienced and highly independent Multimodal Freight Operator to join a growing freight-forwarding business based in London. This is a 100% remote position suited to a self-sufficient operator who can confidently manage shipments from start to finish with minimal supervision. You will work closely with a senior member of the business, supporting existing operations and developing a strong day-to-day working relationship. Ocean freight experience is the main priority, although exposure to road and air freight would be highly beneficial. The role will cover both imports and exports. Key Responsibilities * Manage multimodal import and export consignments from booking through to final delivery * Take responsibility for a portfolio of existing customer accounts * Act as the main point of contact for customers throughout each shipment * Manage ocean freight movements, alongside road and air freight consignments * Liaise with shipping lines, airlines, hauliers, overseas agents and other suppliers * Obtain and negotiate rates from hauliers and transport providers * Prepare quotations and communicate pricing to customers * Coordinate collections, bookings, documentation and final deliveries * Process invoices and ensure all costs are recorded accurately * Obtain and provide proof of delivery documentation * Monitor shipments and proactively resolve operational issues * Keep customers updated throughout the movement of their goods * Build strong, long-term relationships with customers and suppliers * Work collaboratively with the wider business while operating independently from home Candidate Requirements * Previous freight-forwarding operations experience is essential * Strong ocean freight import and/or export experience * Road and air freight experience would be advantageous * Able to manage consignments independently from start to finish * Confident dealing directly with customers, suppliers and hauliers * Commercially aware, with experience obtaining rates and preparing quotations * Comfortable processing invoices, shipment documents and PODs * Highly organised, dependable and able to prioritise a busy workload * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fully remote environment * Based in the South East of England preferred What’s on Offer Salary of up to £35,000 per annum Fully remote working Company laptop and mobile phone Immediate start available Autonomy to manage your own customers and consignments Opportunity to work closely with an experienced senior member of the business A varied multimodal role with ocean freight at its core
