An established and growing precision engineering company is seeking trainee Quality Engineer to support the Quality Department in ensuring that products and processes meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards. This trainee Quality engineer is ideal for someone starting a career in quality engineering within an engineering or manufacturing environment.As a trainee Quality Engineer you will gain hands-on experience in inspection, quality systems, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement while working towards becoming a fully competent Quality Engineer.

Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Assist in maintaining compliance with quality standards to AS9100
- Support internal audits and external audit preparation
- Help maintain and update quality documentation, procedures, and records
Inspection & Measurement
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of components using:
- Verniers, micrometres, height gauges
- Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) (training provided)
- Record inspection data and ensure traceability
Non-Conformance & Problem Solving
- Assist in the investigation of non-conforming products
- Support root cause analysis using tools such as:
- Help implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Process Improvement
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes
- Assist in data collection and analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate quality records in line with company and customer requirements
- Assist in generating inspection reports, FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports), and quality metrics
- Customer & Supplier Quality
- Support supplier quality activities, including documentation checks
Skills and Qualifications
Essential
Basic understanding of engineering or manufacturing principles
Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
Desirable
HNC/HND or degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline
Knowledge of quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001/AS9100)
Experience with engineering drawings and GD&T
Familiarity with inspection equipment or quality tools
