About the Company
Our client is a well-established and respected manufacturer of structural steelwork, delivering high-quality projects across the construction sector. We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead and develop their busy fabrication and manufacturing operation.
The Role
As Production Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the workshop, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with design, commercial and installation teams to coordinate production schedules and maximise operational performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing professional with a background in structural steel, or a similar fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the fabrication and manufacturing facility.
Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet project deadlines.
Lead, motivate and develop workshop and supervisory staff.
Monitor productivity, quality, safety and operational performance.
Ensure materials, labour and machinery resources are utilised effectively.
Work closely with design and project teams to resolve production challenges.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Maintain compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
Manage quality control processes and ensure work meets client specifications.
Monitor production costs and contribute towards departmental budgeting and forecasting.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors where required.
Skills & Experience Required
Previous experience as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Workshop Manager or similar.
Strong background within structural steelwork, architectural metalwork, fabrication or engineering manufacturing.
Proven experience leading production teams in a fast-paced environment.
Good understanding of fabrication, welding and steel manufacturing processes.
Excellent planning, scheduling and organisational skills.
Strong leadership and people management abilities.
Good commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations within a manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Desirable
IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
Experience working with ERP/MRP production systems.
Knowledge of CE marking and structural steel quality requirements.
Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
