About the role
This company is looking for a Senior PHP Full Stack Developer to join its development team and contribute to the evolution of a Laravel-based platform.This role is suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, improving system architecture, and working across both backend and frontend layers of a modern, containerised application.You will work within a small, focused office-based team, taking ownership of core service logic, background processing, and third-party integrations. The position offers a high level of ownership and the opportunity to influence technical direction.Please note - This is a fully office based role. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop backend services that are scalable, testable, and maintainable within a modern Laravel environmentTake ownership of service-layer logic, addressing existing gaps and implementing clean, modular solutions to support integrations and business operationsCollaborate with the team to improve queue job handling, reliability, traceability, and error management across asynchronous processesWork closely with DevOps and QA to support CI/CD pipelines and ensure automated testing and deployments meet quality standardsMaintain and optimise local development and Docker-based environments, including queue workers and supporting servicesProactively identify and resolve technical debt, contributing to platform stability and production readinessSupport system integrations with third-party services and internal APIsContribute to code quality through peer reviews, consistent development patterns, and knowledge sharingAssist with improvements to frontend tooling and workflows, contributing to UI components built with Livewire, TailwindCSS, and ViteStay up to date with developments across the Laravel ecosystem and contribute to ongoing technical improvementsSkills & ExperienceStrong commercial experience with PHP (8.0+) and Laravel (10+), building robust and maintainable applicationsComfortable working across the full stack, including Blade, Livewire, and modern frontend tooling such as Vite, TailwindCSS, and NodeSolid understanding of database design and optimisation, ideally with MySQL, and experience using Redis for caching and queuesExperience working in containerised environments such as Docker and docker-composeHands-on experience with background job processing and queue-based workflowsFamiliarity with Git-based workflows, pull requests, and peer code reviewsClear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teamsPragmatic approach to testing and quality assurance, ideally with exposure to PHPUnit and CI practicesAbility to work independently on larger tasks while contributing to overall technical direction.
