About the role

Rail Operational Support Location: Widnes (initial training in Crewe required for 4/6 weeks) Shifts: Monday to Friday - 7am-3pm / 8am-4pm Contract: 6-month contract, potential to be extended Start: Immediate Pay: Pre 12 weeks (28 days holiday) £17.64 PAYE / £22.40 Umbrella Post 12 weeks (34 days holiday) £17.64 PAYE / £23.60 UmbrellaOverview We are looking for a proactive Rail Operational Support professional to join a busy rolling stock materials operation. This is a varied role combining warehousing, logistics, SAP stock control, and administrative support to ensure materials are managed efficiently, safely, and in line with operational requirements. You will work closely with the Materials Manager and wider depot teams to maintain stock accuracy, support production needs, and ensure all materials processes run smoothly and in compliance with procedures. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced rail environment where accuracy, organisation, and communication are key. Key Responsibilities Process goods receipt, issues, transfers and stock movements using SAP Carry out regular stock checks and Physical Inventory processes Manage repairable, warranty and safety-critical stock Ensure accurate storage, labelling and identification of all materials Maintain clean, safe and compliant warehouse and returns areas Support Kanban stock systems and deliver materials to point of use Arrange transport, collections and deliveries via logistics systems Operate forklift trucks and other handling equipment (if authorised) Support inter-depot movements and urgent material requirements Provide administrative support including reports, emails, documentation and audits Attend daily calls and report SQDC issues (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) Support customer enquiries and resolve material-related issues Assist with off-site depot support and projects (e.g. Class 180 fleet) Contribute to continuous improvement and process efficiencyAbout You Essential: Experience in warehousing, logistics, manufacturing or materials management SAP experience in a stores or warehouse environment GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent experience) Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office) Good communication and organisational skills Ability to work independently and take initiative Forklift Truck licence or experience operating FLT equipmentDesirable: Rail or rolling stock experience Full UK driving licence Articulated Lorry TicketImportant Information Initial training will be provided at the Crewe depot for 4/6 weeks Must be comfortable working in a safety-critical environment Strict Zero Tolerance Drug & Alcohol Policy applies - pre-employment screening is required Rullion celebrates and supports diversity and is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for both employees and applicants
