About the role

Job Description

We’re looking for a Team Manager to join the Onboarding Calculations Team in our Award‑Winning Pension Risk Transfer business.

In this role you will lead our specialist Onboarding Calculations Team, playing a pivotal role in the Defined Benefit pensions retirement journey, from quotation through to settlement. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that the team deliver accurate, timely and empathetic services to scheme members and their representatives, while making sure customer outcomes, operational controls and regulatory expectations are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading, coaching and developing the high‑performing Onboarding Calculations Team.
  • Setting clear objectives and performance standards aligned to business priorities and customer outcomes.
  • Managing the delivery of Defined Benefit pension claims administration from quotation through to settlement.
  • Overseeing complex manual calculations, quotations, letters and statements.
  • Ensuring work is allocated and completed accurately, efficiently and in line with agreed guidelines.
  • Managing risk controls, process documentation and audit trails across the retirement claims process.
  • Applying Consumer Duty principles to support good outcomes for customers, including those with vulnerable characteristics.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, service quality and operational effectiveness.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong understanding of Defined Benefit pension schemes and how benefits are structured and administered.
  • Experience working with teams involved in manual pension benefit calculations.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to coach, support and develop others.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to fair, clear and empathetic service.
  • Good understanding of operational risk, controls and regulatory requirements within pensions or financial services.
  • Knowledge of areas such as Data Protection, Money Laundering, Complaints, Treating Customers Fairly and breach guidelines.
  • Confidence working with systems, processes and documentation in a controlled operational environment.
  • Willingness to complete CII CF1, FA2 and Overseer status requirements within the role, if not already held.
