About the role

SENIOR TRANSPORT PLANNER 1 year contract Hybrid working Qualifications, Skills & Experience Degree level qualification or equivalent experience Membership of relevant professional organisation At least 5 years transport planning experience Knowledge and application of national, regional and local policy and design guidance Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience of working with computer-based systems including Microsoft programmes Manage your own workload and delegate tasks Provide high-level initial feedback without benefit of technical assessments Ability to step in to assist projects you are not involved with; providing guidance, attending meetings, advising clientRole Specific Requirements Write, check and on occasion approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and Technical Notes Prepare appeal documentation including Statement of Case and Statement of Common Ground Successfully project manage schemes, including budget and time management and requesting additional fees where required Excellent client / officer liaison and management Assist with training junior members of staff Ability to complete / review / approve planning drawing requirements, such as visibility splays, vehicle tracking diagrams, access designs etc with minimal changes Independent attendance at Public Consultation events, project team/client meetings, appeal meetings & Local Highway Authority meetings Prepare fee proposals and tenders for all project scales Good understanding of junction modelling packages, and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions, including 'Decide and Provide' Ability to identify and design mitigation schemes to overcome capacity, safety or active travel constraints Complete access appraisals; including ability to design a variety of access options and provide high level feedback to clients Be adaptable to assist team members and cover project responsibilities while other colleagues are away Contribution/S106 obligation discussions Behavioural Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure Disciplined, well organised and conscientious Promote and respect the principles of confidentiality Set an example to all staff by demonstrating compliance with the company's policies and procedures and operate within the company values and QMS Act with honesty and integrity Be adaptable and look to solve problems Be willing to go the extra mile to ensure task completion Have good communication skills and commitment to developing good communication and positive working relationships with colleagues and clients alike Work well as part of a teamersg are an equal opportunities employer; we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all job applicants.
