Mechanical Engineer - Building Services Location: Exeter / Plymouth Employment Type: Permanent Overview A global multidisciplinary consultancy is expanding its Mechanical Building Services team across Exeter and Plymouth due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured UK and international projects. The role sits within a multidisciplinary team delivering mechanical engineering solutions across defence, infrastructure, healthcare, education, commercial and secure environments. This is a design-focused position supporting full lifecycle delivery from concept design through to construction. Key Responsibilities Support mechanical building services design across RIBA Stages 0–7 Assist in the design of HVAC systems including heating, cooling, ventilation and associated plant Undertake engineering calculations including heat loss/gain, pipe sizing and airflow calculations Produce drawings, specifications, reports and technical documentation using Revit and AutoCAD Work within multi-disciplinary engineering teams Support coordination with electrical, structural and architectural disciplines Attend design meetings and assist in technical problem solving Support sustainable and low-carbon design strategies Assist with site inspections and construction phase support Requirements Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering 2–3 years’ experience in building services design (consultancy preferred) Understanding of HVAC systems and UK construction standards Revit / BIM experience advantageous Strong communication and willingness to develop Security Clearance eligibility beneficial due to defence workload Benefits Global consultancy environment with major defence and infrastructure projects Structured career development pathway (CIBSE / IMechE) Hybrid working model Strong technical mentoring and support Long-term secured project pipeline If you're interested, please contact Conner Richards at RGB Recruitment – (url removed)
