About the role
We’re looking for a
Networking Engineering Apprentice
to join Telent’s Highways Division, where you will apply your existing knowledge and skills working on real projects, whilst learning new skills along the way.
You’ll gain practical experience working on a range of projects across the Highways Network while undertaking the
Level 4 Network Engineering Apprenticeship .
This role will require flexibility to meet the customer needs, so it will be a hybrid role with a blend of office based, home working and some site-based activity.
What you’ll be doing
Work on live projects alongside experienced Engineers
Provide Level 2 remote technical support across network and management platforms, coordinating with NOC, operations, vendors and customers
Develop and support DevOps tooling and automation and orchestration technology
Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity, proactively identifying risks and driving service improvements
Lead technical escalations and incident resolution, ensuring effective communication, coordination and service restoration
Participate in special projects from designing, building solutions, testing and implementation
Maintain compliance with SLAs, security standards, and governance, while supporting documentation, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you’ll bring
GCSEs Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English and a Level 3 qualification in IT or equivalent
An understanding and genuine interest of networking, internet protocols and cyber security
A flair for solving complex technical issues
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with proven team working and leadership abilities
Self-motivation, able to work on your own initiative and under pressure
Practical use of Microsoft Office applications
Full UK/EU Driving Licence
