Interim Head of Indirect Tax (6 month FTC) - London (Zone 1) (2 days a week in the office)

A leading UK organisation is seeking a Head of Indirect Tax to lead its indirect tax function and provide strategic advice across a complex business environment. Reporting to the Tax Director, this role offers responsibility for indirect tax strategy, risk management, compliance and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all indirect tax matters, including VAT, duties, environmental taxes and levies.
• Ensure robust compliance and effective risk management across UK operations.
• Partner with senior business and finance leaders on major commercial decisions.
• Build and maintain relationships with HMRC and external stakeholders.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of tax professionals.

The ideal candidate will have

• Deep expertise in UK indirect tax.
• Need to be able to start in under a month
• Experience leading tax teams within large or complex organisations.
• Strong commercial awareness, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
