Most senior electrical engineers can point to a project and say they worked on it. Far fewer can say they ran it, fronted the client meetings, made the design calls and watched the building open.This is a ten person building services practice in central London, hiring at senior and principal level because the workload has outgrown the team. The projects are mostly commercial, with residential schemes and schools alongside, so the design work stays varied rather than settling into one repeatable template.If you are at a larger consultancy, you already know the ceiling. The interesting decisions happen a grade or two above you, the client relationships belong to someone else, and your route upwards depends on waiting for people to leave. In a practice this size the opposite is true. You take ownership of your own schemes from day one, you deal with clients directly, and the influence you have on how the business designs and delivers is real rather than theoretical.The working pattern is hybrid, with three days in the London office and two at home.
